Environmental Statement

Re-use and recycleMaintaining our forests are of great concern and special attention must be given to this valuable resource. All of my materials are purchased from company’s who support the policies of NHLA (National Hardwood Lumber Association), the IWPA (International Wood Products Association), and the TFF ( Tropical Forest Foundation). As a consumer of these products, I strongly believe in the efficient use, or re-use, of these materials.

While attention to the design of a project is critical, some modifications can be made to prevent waste and increase the materials yield. I can also incorporate the use of engineered products, like MDF, ply woods, plastics, or metals. Many of these are made from the by-product of other company’s waste, are recycled materials, or harvested from sustainable resources.

Materials

Oak cabinet doorsThe choices and combinations of materials can be overwhelming. Some choices may be obvious to the project (like aromatic cedar for a blanket chest), others are purely aesthetic. With the combination of hardwood, plywood, veneer and other materials, we can achieve a balance of design and function while maintaining quality and your budget.

Some popular wood choices are Maple, Cherry, Walnut, Mahogany, and Oak. Other woods like Teak, Redwood, or Cedar lend them to exterior projects because of their durability. If your looking for something more exotic, take a look at Koa, Coco bola, Wenge, or Zebrawood.

All types of wood are available in veneer, a thin slice of wood, most with astonishing patterns and beautiful character. Birdseye Maple, Burl Walnut, Curly Cherry, Quilted Bubinga, the list goes on and on.
